Opportunities for Psychologists (with Endorsement in an Area of Practice or Registrar)

Melbourne Clinical & Child Psychology is a group of independent Psychologists providing assessment and treatment for a range of mental health and developmental concerns in adults, teenagers, children and parents.

We strive to be different in developing a collaborative model of practice for independent health professionals. You enjoy the benefits of working in a collegial environment and clients benefit from a shared care perspective. We all have different training backgrounds and have worked in other settings, including public mental health, private mental health and universities. Our fantastic receptionists provide administrative support and triaging of new clients. We value our cohesive and caring environment and have gained a reputation for providing excellent care.

We now have fantastic opportunities available for Psychologists with endorsement (Clinical, Neuropsychology, Counselling, Educational /Developmental, Health, including registrars) to work at our clinics as an independent practitioner.

Your new practice

Come join us by the beach in Beaumaris or in leafy green streets in Armadale. Both clinics are in village areas with shopping and cafes. All offices are naturally light filled, elegantly furnished and fully resourced so you can simply step in and begin. Espresso coffee machines, fruit baskets and regular social opportunities contribute to a relaxed and inspiring workplace. Psychologists at MCCP prioritise social connection and we are building opportunities for groups, student learning and research.

Design your practice to suit you

The advantage of working in our clinics is being able to choose your own days and working hours to fit into your lifestyle. As an independent practitioner you design your own private practice with our administrative support all housed within beautiful consulting rooms.

Your schedule is your own and we support you to manage your own self-care, family and lifestyle commitments.

There are no expectations placed upon you in terms of client numbers or sessions. You have independence in clinical decision making and your clients and files are your own. You practice as an independent practitioner.

We share regular professional development and can link you in with our community of referrals including dietitians, Psychiatrists, Paediatricians and GPs.

Supporting new registrars

When you have completed your Doctoral or Master’s program in Psychology it can feel daunting to know where to start working. Traditionally private practice was an individual workplace, however with the introduction of Medicare rebates private practice has grown to now support many Psychologists.

Many workplaces still provide a model of practice where Psychologists work alone. This is where Melbourne Clinical & Child Psychology strives to be different. We value each other’s expertise and appreciate the support and social benefits.

Our registrar program connects you with other registrars and we provide clinical support whenever you need so that you feel connected. You will have access to fortnightly individual supervision, monthly clinical psychology / neuropsychology peer supervision and 6 weekly group supervision. We also share resources, referral options and therapeutic ideas so that you can grow and thrive in your professional career.

About you

You may currently work in public mental health and are thinking about transitioning to private practice. This is a great opportunity to experience how private practice can be fulfilling and supportive. For more senior Psychologists there is opportunity to provide in-house or external supervision alongside your client work to support your teaching and supervisory practice.

We also welcome recent graduates of Master’s or Doctoral Programs. The Psychologists at MCCP are a mix of established and early career Psychologists and we love the opportunity to learn from each other and create a collegial environment. Regular formal supervision and every day clinical support is provided to support your career development.

“We want you to love the space you work in and enjoy the benefits of our many resources so that you can provide exemplary care to your clients.”
